The goal was to enable online virtual fitting: showing garments on a mannequin configured to match a user's body measurements.

We had a physically based cloth simulation, but it was too resource-intensive to scale as a web service. I proposed an alternative approach: pre-rendering garment shapes and quickly interpolating between 3D mesh vertex positions to approximate the simulation result. This made real-time online fitting practical while preserving visual quality close to the original simulation.
